With several gambling friendly states seeking to legalize online gambling, online poker can soon become a reality in America. Because of lack of Federal framework to guide online gambling, some of the states have been forced to take matters in their own hands and their attempts include legalization of gambling within intrastate borders. However, some of the lawmakers at federal level are trying to pass a bill which will legalize online casinos in America. Individual states will be given an option of either opting-in or opting out of it.

It is not a surprise that Nevada is the first state to seek a move to legalize online poker to be offered within the borders of the state since it is a gambling Mecca. The process can happen very soon.

However, it is yet not clear whether the move will legalize only poker or online blackjack as well. Many major industry players have already asked for licenses in the Silver state which includes names like MGM Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, 888 Holdings and Shuffle Master. New Jersey has also moved fast in this direction but with Governor Chris Christie vetoing the bill, its fate hangs in balance. Other states like California, New York etc are also seeking to legalize online poker.
